The 2024 Cross-Canada Survey of Radon Concentrations, released in October 2024 by the Evict Radon National Study, revealed that nearly 1 in 5 (17.8%) Canadian homes have radon levels at or above the 200 Bq/m³ guideline, more than double the 6.9% rate found in 2012. This comprehensive study, which included data from Health Canada, indicates that over 10 million Canadians may reside in homes with elevated radon levels.
Areas around London including Oxford and Elgin counties have a similar radon level (15%) to that which I have found in London. This occurred in 2023 and was part of a Take Action on Radon initiative.
It re-enforces the need for homeowners to get a Long-Term (91+ days) radon test especially in the fall, winter and early spring when homes are closed up.
